Around 60% of the UK population is overweight or obese, as well as quarter of our children. We are not alone in this epidemic. In fact, this is a global trend and there are no signs of improvement in spite of various local, national, and global strategies.
In this lecture Professor Siba Senapati will discuss the obesity epidemic and its impact on health and wellbeing as well as various current strategies to tackle it.
This lecture will cover the following areas:
- Current obesity trends
- Impact of obesity on health
- Current treatments
- Strategies to tackle obesity
- Future advances
These will be one-hour lectures held in the Mary Seacole Building, Ground Floor Lecture Theatre MSG.21, starting at 6.30pm, and will be followed by refreshments and canapés at 7.30pm.
